On July 4, 2017, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Lübeck organized together with Fraunhofer MEVIS the 5th Lübeck Summer Academy (LSA) on Medical Technology. With a participant record of 270 representatives from industry, clinic and research in three sessions this event became a complete success. Fraunhofer MEVIS addressed the subject of machine learning in the session "Deep Learning: From AlphaGo to Diagnostics".

Six experts presented their views on the history, present and future of machine learning in the context of clinical application. The final panel discussion with the active participation of the audience, as well as the fact that the 100 available tickets were quickly sold out for this event, shows that there is a great demand for an exchange platform on the subject of deep learning in Northern Germany.

New Working Group for Exchange on Deep Learning in Medical Applications in Planning

Fraunhofer MEVIS and the IHK Lübeck have recognized this need and are creating such a platform for the North German region. Companies and applied research facilities are cordially invited to exchange ideas about cooperation and future developments on the topic of deep learning.
