After a two-year planning phase, the construction of the new institute building for Fraunhofer MEVIS began on the campus of the University of Bremen in early September. The distinctive building on Max-von-Laue-Strasse will offer space for 150 employees and 60 scientific assistants, doctoral students, and visiting scientists on 2,600 square meters of floor space. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2020.

The owner of the building designed by the Bremen-based architecture firm Haslob Kruse + Partner is the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich. The construction costs of around 15 million euros are evenly divided between the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the State of Bremen, and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
