Fraunhofer MEVIS at the Annual Meeting of the German Society of Pathology
Fraunhofer MEVIS co-hosts the booth of the EMPAIA consortium at the 103rd Annual Meeting of the German Society of Pathology (DGP) in Frankfurt/Main from June 13 to 15, 2019. At the booth, the consortium informs about its mission and encourages pathologists and business stakeholders to participate.
The aim of the EMPAIA consortium is to establish an ecosystem for AI-assisted, image-based diagnostics using the example of pathology. By creating a standardized marketplace under clear legal conditions, physicians will be enabled to routinely use validated and approved AI solutions. The consortium is formed by the Institute of Pathology at Charité Berlin, Fraunhofer MEVIS, and startup company MindPeak GmbH. Further partners are the Quality Assurance Initiative Pathology QuIP GmbH, HPS GesundheitsCloud gGmbH, and Dierks+Company Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH.
The EMPAIA consortium participates in the AI Innovation Contest of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The contest intends to promote the use of AI and to facilitate technology transfer in the German economy. EMPAIA is one of 35 selected projects entering the competitive phase, out of more than 130 originally submitted projects.
