Sixth Meeting of the Fraunhofer MEVIS Advisory Board
In Bremen on Thursday, June 5, 2014, the Fraunhofer MEVIS Advisory Board (Kuratorium) met for the sixth time. The members of the Advisory Board praised the positive developments at Fraunhofer MEVIS and articulated their appreciation and thanks to the institute’s personnel.
The institute directors Prof. Dr. Horst Hahn and Prof. Dr. Ron Kikinis reported on developments in the focus and structure of the institute and outlined medium-term plans and prospects. Dr. Alexander Kurz, Executive Board Member for Human Resources, Legal Affairs and IP Management of the Fraunhofer headquarters in Munich, gave a talk concerning the current state of affairs of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
The Advisory Board was presented with demonstrations of current practical research by scientific personnel to relay the latest developments of Fraunhofer MEVIS in the fields of neuroradiology, prostate biopsy, radiation therapy and cardiology, as well as web applications.
The Advisory Board meeting 2014 was connected with a restructuring. Prof. Dr. Gabor Székely from ETH Zurich was elected new chairman and Mr. Walter Märzendorfer from Siemens AG new vice chairman of the Advisory Board. The former chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erich R. Reinhardt resigned his membership along with Prof. Dr. med. Hans-Peter Bruch, Dr. Rainer Jansen, Prof. Dr. Ron Kikinis, Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Jochen Klose, and Prof. Dr. med. Maximilian Reiser. As new members of the Advisory Board were appointed Prof. Dr. med. Jörg F. Debatin (amedes Holding AG), Prof. Dr. med. Mathias Prokop (Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen), Prof. Dr. Kerstin Schill (Universität Bremen), and Dr. Ralf Schumacher (Roche Diagnostics GmbH).
