For this year’s Tribeca Immersive programme at the 2022 Tribeca Festival, which will be presented at the historic site of 120 Broadway, New York, USA from 9-19 June, London-based art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast, the immersive production company Atlas V and US producing company Pressman Film present the world premiere of an extraordinary new collaborative virtual reality experience, entitled EVOLVER: a free-roaming, immersive journey through the breathing body.
EVOLVER is presented by Bia-Echo Foundation’s Nicole Shanahan, who has led the collaborative initiative to incorporate medical data from The Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and their cutting edge research being done on Female Reproductive health, with the creative team of Marshmallow Laser Feast and key scientific collaborator Fraunhofer MEVIS, whose data sets and bodily scanning techniques have informed every aspect of the project; narrated by Cate Blanchett.
The datasets provided by Fraunhofer MEVIS were vital to the development of EVOLVER, where they provided a range of custom assets, including full-body MRI scans and MRA exams of a volunteer, alongside blood flow data and consulting for CT scan assets, to form the project's core human body. In addition to the Institute’s primary mission – developing real-world software solutions for severe diseases' image-and-data-supported early detection, diagnosis, and therapies – Fraunhofer MEVIS scientists are committed to raising awareness about how digital transformation influences health care. They develop experiential SciArt projects to stimulate critical dialog, reach new audiences, and foster a diverse future R&D landscape and ownership of new technologies.
