On Friday, June 21, 2024, the 16th meeting of the Fraunhofer MEVIS Advisory Board took place in Bremen under the direction of Prof. Hans Maier, Chairman of the Advisory Board.
The presentation on the current situation of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft was given by Prof. Axel Müller-Groeling, Executive vice president for Research Infrastructures and Digital Transformation. In his subsequent report on Fraunhofer MEVIS, Institute Director Prof. Horst K. Hahn discussed the structural and financial development of the institute.
A lively and fruitful discussion began, stimulated by contributions from the Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board, Prof. Mathias Prokop, on the topic of “Change Analysis” and from MEVIS scientist Prof. Anja Hennemuth and physician Prof. Gerhard Hindricks on the topic of “Interventions in Cardiology”. The members of the Advisory Board welcomed the development of Fraunhofer MEVIS and expressed their appreciation and thanks to the institute's employees.
Prof. Gerhard Hindricks, Acting Clinic Director and Chief Integration Officer of the Clinic for Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, took part in the Advisory Board meeting for the first time. Prof. Hindricks enriches the Advisory Board with his internationally recognized expertise, particularly in the field of cardiovascular diseases.
After ten years of membership, Prof. Kerstin Schill, Rector of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg, Director of the Institute for Cognitive Neuroinformatics at the University of Bremen, and Vice President of the German Research Foundation (DFG), left the Advisory Board on her own request. The Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the management of Fraunhofer MEVIS warmly thanked Prof. Schill for her great commitment.
