Diversity is an important asset for Fraunhofer MEVIS, which works with human medical data from all over the world. To raise awareness of diversity and unconscious bias and increase the visibility of diversity at the institute, Fraunhofer MEVIS celebrates German Diversity Day 2022 on May 31 with various activities on site and online.
Fraunhofer MEVIS supports since more than a decade events, workshops, and projects, which foster diversity, these includes:
- Diversity Workshops, November 2021 and May 2022, resulting in four working groups on various aspects (diversity and gender, role sharing, international, communication, team building and project work) – supported by Fraunhofer headquarters.
- Artist residency STEAM Imaging, starting 2017, taking place for the fourth time to foster the engagement with and ownership of future technology. The project addresses school students living in social areas with highly diverse cultural backgrounds, and who are aspiring first in family academics and international artists from diverse cultures – funded by the Fraunhofer International Talent School Bremen.
- Annual Girls' Day and Informatica Feminale, starting in 2009. The aim of these longstanding programs is to inspire and support women and girls for a career in STEM sciences – funded by Fraunhofer MEVIS.
